Election 2025
This year’s election brings a great slate of candidates, plus a very special matter for your approval: the merger of Sail Sarasota and the Sarasota Sailing Squadron. This merger would enable the Squadron to reach new sources of support as a 501(c)(3) organization and better meet the challenges of the future. Your voice has never been more important, so please turn out and vote.
You must be a member in good standing to vote, and each membership household has one vote. There are two ways in which you can cast your vote:
In Person: Vote in person at the Annual Membership Meeting on November 2nd. Voting starts at 1 p.m. and concludes at 3 p.m. (See the proxy form for the Slate and the ballot issue.)
By Proxy: If you cannot be present on November 2nd, you can appoint Commodore Bob Twinem to cast your vote for you at the Annual Membership Meeting. Just fill out the proxy form, sign it, and return the completed form. Proxies must be received by 3 pm on November 2nd.

Vote on the
Merger proposal
The Board of Directors of Sarasota Sailing Squadron, Inc. and Sail Sarasota, Inc. have voted to approve the merger of these not-for-profit corporations in accordance with a written Plan of Merger, Restatement of Bylaws, and Amended and Restated Articles of Incorportation (collectively, the "Merger Documents") and Florida law. The merger proposal, and the Merger Documents, is/are subject to the majority approval of the Members of Sarasota Sailing Squadron, Inc. If approved, the merged corporation would receive the beneficial tax treatment of Sail Sarasota, Inc. as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, while remaining the sailing home that you know and love. Your membership would be converted into a membership in the surviving corporation. The proposed merger aims to strenghten the Squadron's sustainability for the future by opening new avenues of support. The Boards of Directors of both corporations endorse this proposal, and the Board of Directors of Sail Sarasota, Inc. has completed its formal approval process.
