Waypoints, and Information below provided by Member Hans Dettmers:

  • When checking the tides: The high and low tides are about 45 min to 1 hour earlier at green marker “1″ than they are at Golden Gate Point [the nearest point available on your chartplotter or in the newspaper]
  • Going out, when you pass red “4″ and have a reading of 12 ft water and at red “2″ 8 ft, you are safe, meaning you can expect at least a minimum depth of 6.5 ft.

Note: the New Pass Bridge will open on signal on the hour, and at 20 and 40 minutes past the hour between 7am and 6pm.  Between 6pm and 7am, the bridge will open on signal provided at least 3 hours notice is given to the bridge tender (941-359-5666).  Source: Federal Register, 12/18/2001
