The Sarasota Sailing Squadron prepares for its biggest event of the year, sailors from the US and Canada will embark on Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico for the finest sailing anywhere on Florida’s West Coast.
 SARASOTA,FLORIDA, - The Sarasota Sailing Squadron (SSS) hosts the 65th Annual Labor Day Regatta September 2-4, 2011.

Wow!!!! What a great turnout for the Regatta Pointe Manatee River "Sailstice" Regatta. SSS sailors took home most of the the Podium hardware!!  In Spinnaker, Misty was nosed out by Bob Armstrong on Mischief (we are talking feet here).  Three J-24's were bunched together in the spin fleet.  Solitude in the non-spin fleet led the entire fleet for the first nine miles and then was overtaken by the Spin fleet boats.  … Read full article

Sunday Series Starting Time: A request to move up the starting time from 1pm (1300) to 1:30 (1330) will be implemented beginning Sunday June 5th… Read full article.   This will hopefully allow for that refreshing sea breeze to fill in and still allow for our skippers to make it home for Sunday supper.

Participated in the “Breezy” regatta this past month.  The captains that left on Friday afternoon competed in the “Sharks Tooth Feeder Race”.   RunAway could not leave until Saturday morning and almost missed the race as a strong South wind made getting to the Venice jetty very wet and difficult. 

April Fools Day was last Friday and the first of the Friday Night Races… Read full article.  A beautiful evening brought out seventeen skippers who conquered the six mile course in good time.  The sun was down and out by 8:15pm and a couple of boats were just entering the Squadron.  Thanks to Dave Hillmeyer and his RC crew for getting the results out within fifteen minutes of docking Big Ben.
