Read full articleThe Windjammer Regatta is a reincarnation of an event from the past of the Sarasota Sailing Squadron. The new version is now three years old and is sponsored by SSS, Venice Yacht Club and Venice Sailing Squadron. The idea is to emulate offshore point-to-point races, first from Sarasota to Venice on a Saturday and then back to Sarasota the next day.

Sarasota One Design Midwinters 2012

Calling all One Design Fleets! The Sarasota Sailing Squadron is hosting their Annual One Design Midwinter Regatta March 16th through March 18th for fleets of five or more boats. Great turnout at the 3rd Annual Turkey Run

Wow!!! Great sailing results this past weekend at the 3rd Annual Turkey Run hosted by Regatta Pointe Marina in Palmetto; a 10.73nm pursuit race which is a SBYA Boat of the Year event.  17 entrees and 7 were from SSS. 22 Sailors Compete in the Suncoast Laser Regatta at SSS

On November 12, 22 Laser sailors from around the area gathered on Sarasota Bay for the sixth and final regatta of the 2011 Suncoast Laser Series. The sailing conditions were near perfect with 8 to 12 knots of breeze and sunny skies. 5 races were sailed. On top of the Laser fleet was the Squadron’s own Jeff Olson.… Read full article

Fleet 36 Racing Update

Forecasts were for inclement weather Saturday but 6 Scots ventured out on the bay (5 with the intent to race and one out for a day sail).

At the Starting Line…

17 Skippers participated in the Great Pumpkin Regatta yesterday (including 5 Flying Scots). Results show that Capt'n Kevin Rattigan aboard Water Rat won both races followed by Ray Pilot skippering Flirt and Scots and H2O finishing third in the Non-Spin class. Jason Roznos won the Cruising class followed by that big 41' Bristol Moonfleet and sailing his Chrysler 22 Treo for the last time Robert Hindle finished third.… Read full article
